Growing
Last year in March, I had marvelled at the sturdiness of our little oak plant which had survived the dark and cold winter and was showing its tiny new shoots. Unfortunately the poor thing did not thrive much further and its originally glorious determination withered into no much more than a bit of dry stalk and two brittle appendages...
But there is a happy turn to the story! I had gathered a couple of acorns in the course of our trip to Stora Skuggan back in April and had not thought of anything better than to plant them in the same pot as our late-baby-oak-tree. And surprise, surprise, two weeks ago, young green bits started to pop out of the earth...!
Today we have a total of 7 leaves on one "tree" and two on the other one! Lili is thrilled to bits as it was her oak-tree in the first place, that she had brought back from nursery-school when she was 4. So this morning I decided to give our new protege a fair chance: I re-potted it into a vast terracotta-receptacle and watered it gently...Let's hope we can soon measure its lofty progress ;-)
