Paper, lili(es) and surprises
Last weekend, Lili was invited to spend a couple of hours with Anna, the owner of the great local papershop that she often visits and gets little gifts from. For the occasion she decided she would bring along the bird cage we had made a few weeks ago, so as to show Anna where her lovely origami birds now lived. Lili suggested that Anna could even keep the cage for a week or so if she wanted to. Both had a good time, were eating biscuits and drinking pear juice when I collected Lili, who had been chatting while cutting, folding and assembling bits of colourful paper.
Upon her return, when I whispered to Lili that it would be nice to make Anna a nice drawing to thank her for her welcome, she agreed to do something, without being more specific. Then she took her pencils and produced a super friendly picture of Anna in her shop! Really sweet!
Today, we decided it would make a pleasant surprise to frame the drawing and bring it to the papershop. So we did! Anna was very pleased and touched and so were we: in the window of the shop was our birdcage, with a little note telling passers-by that it had been made "by Lili and Anne-Karine"! And the cherry on the cake for Lili: a huge pot of blossoming orange lilies was sitting outside the entrance of the shop! We do love our local boutiques!
