Today was the Höstfest or Autumn Festival at the Bergianska Trädgården, ie the Botanical Gardens situated just behind Stockholm University. Quite strange to be celebrating the autumnal season as the sun was still high and warm, everyone still in a pretty summer mood, but there you are...

One of the activities offered to visitors involved tasting some of the tropical fruit growing in Viktorias Växthus, the tropical greenhouse, so we ate some lotus plant, a bit of maniok, a slice or two of sugar cane and some water chestnuts. We also went around the temporary little market, where plants and apples could be purchased. Last but not least, Pete and I tried our hand at tree-climbing, just as tree doctors do it on a daily basis: up with ropes and helmet, but with no chainsaw in our case... We tried to pursuade Lili or Otto to have a go but they declined.

To make everyone happy we then headed for the nearby little beach on the shores of Brunnsviken. Lots of people were enjoying the last of the swimming opportunities, we joined them!

Maybe it won't even be our last swim of the year, who knows?

Again, Sweden impresses. Eating exotic plants and experiencing tree climbing the professional way - followed by swimming! Not only does Sweden impress but my family living there, do as well!! Well done.

Love to you all from

Grandma XXxxx
