Under the ground, all the way to Africa
Saturday was probably the very last day of this amazing Swedish late summer we've been enjoying. We hid from the sun only for a couple of hours, the time to go round Bergrummet, ie the "room under the mountain", to view the current exhibition of African art. The gallery is literally dug into the rock, right under the island. I had persuaded everyone this was a good idea for the day's escapade when I had mentioned it was going to be like exploring a huge grotto. Otto and Lili liked the idea and were not disappointed!
The art was beautiful - many sculptures, in terracotta, bronze, copper, we even saw a crocodile, a hippo and a couple of cameleons, to Poppy's delight :-). The cave impressed us, it felt so strange to be under the rock, under the other museums (Modern, Östasiatiska, Arkitektur) just over our heads. We actually rounded up our afternoon with a tranquil tour of Skeppsholmen, where we saw signets and colourful torpidoes (as you do).
