Nils #2

After we saw the play Lili's interest for Nils redoubled when I found a cheap set of 4 dvds of an animated film version of the story, German-produced and dating back to the late 70s, but quite well-done and faithful to the original book. Many many episodes to watch and even more still if I manage to get hold of the first box of dvds in the series comprising three.

Poppy and Otto are quite interested as well, as each aventure revolves around birds, creatures found in forests or met in snowy landscapes and under difficult weather conditions, which, I guess, is fairly exciting to watch and listen to.

Very educational, as it should be, really, since the book was originally commissioned by the Swedish Ministry for Education and was to be used as a geography manual by Swedish primary school pupils.

Needless to say, Lili designed her own little Nils, out of a bit of stick found somewhere. We are still thinking about wittling a goose out of a tree branch, as this might not be so easy.

Il est clair que nous avons affaire ici à une famille d'artistes (ce qui est sans doute au départ une prédisposition génétique, mais dont le développement a été largement favorisé par l'éducation)!

Nils seems to be having quite an effect on Lili and all the family! Tell Lili I really liked her Nils made from a piece of stick. Also, can you please tell her that Grandad really liked her artistic card which we received yesterday - thank you Lili!<br /> Love from Grandma
